This project completely transformed an ordinary development house into an extraordinary Craftsman home. This renovation was far more than just a matter of appearances. The floor plan was redesigned to re-purpose and improve existing spaces, and new spaces were carved out of unused rooms. For example, the formal living room (rarely used) was re-made into a library, with a grand book case, a cozy seating nook and a stunning beamed gable ceiling. The former den at the front of the house became a bright and cheerful laundry room. The old laundry area by the garage door was transformed into a mud room with custom oak cabinets and school lockers for the kids.  All of the builders-grade doors were replaced with solid oak 3-panels units, and all of the trim was replaced with 3/4" solid oak, milled onsite to a custom craftsman profile. The woodwork was meticulously finished with a three-part process to accentuate the grain and produce an authentic craftsman look. The main stair rail was replaced with custom crafted oak, including site-made box newel posts. The floors were upgraded to 5" solid oak throughout. The kitchen trim was also upgraded to the same custom-milled profile used throughout the project. Finally, the lighting was upgraded throughout the first floor using quality fixtures of a craftsman design. Now this gorgeous home stands alone in the development.
